How to Help

The Northumberland GogoGetters is a grassroots community organization that is open to anyone who wants to help out in any way.

Our meetings are held every so often at Meet at 66 King and Trinity United Church in Cobourg every so often, usually in the evening.  They are open to everyone whatever their age or sex, whether you live in Cobourg or anywhere in the surrounding area. You're more than welcome to come by with your ideas and enthusiasm.  Notices of meetings will be posted on this website before the fact, or you can get in touch with Gillian (gillianb@sympatico.ca) who will contact you beforehand.

We always need people to help organize and run fundraising events, to sell tickets, to spread the word.  If you belong to any other  community groups in the area, it would be great to get them involved as well.

Of course we also need people to buy tickets to our events and help us raise money.  We'll let you know about those on this website, or again contact Gillian and she'll let you know beforehand.

Feel free to plan and run your own little fundraisers, hold a garage sale and send the profits to the Foundation, make and sell crafts, whatever you can think of.  The Stephen Lewis Foundation website has many great ideas to get you started.

The simplest thing to do is to donate money directly to the Foundation. It's quick and easy to do it online, just go to the Canada Helps website and give what you can.

Before you buy anything online, remember to visit our Gogo Shoppers Website first.  It won't cost you a penny more, and we will earn a commission on everything you spend.  All the money we raise goes straight to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Besides raising money, the other main goal of our group is to raise awareness about the orphans and the grandmothers affected by HIV/AIDs in Africa.  Go to the The Stephen Lewis Foundation website to read about their situation and what's going on at the moment.  Visit the News and Inspiration section of this website for information and inspiration.  Make it a topic you discuss with your friends and family, bring it up in school,  church groups, community groups.

With your help we can make a difference.
