About the Go Go Getters
About Us
After participating in the Grandmothers to Grandmothers gathering in Toronto, a magical event hosted by the Stephen Lewis Foundation in August 2006, Barb Bromley & Jeremy Fleming knew that they had to bring the grandmother's message back to Cobourg. In October 2006, they established the Cobourg Go Go Getters, one of 150 grandmothers groups across Canada raising funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation and increasing awareness about the heroic grandmothers who are almost single-handedly caring for the over 13 million children orphaned by AIDS.
The Northumberland GogoGetters group is somewhat different from other grandmothers groups being that its members are not exclusively grandmothers. We are women and we are men, we are young and we are old, we're grandmothers and non-grandmothers....all with a common passion for doing what we can to support the African grandmothers.
Our group is open to everyone who wants to help out in any way. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Over 90% of the money they receive goes to grassroots groups in Africa to help grandmothers and others looking after the children orphaned by AIDS.
